The program discusses the key areas of risk management that should be incorporated in physicians’ practice patterns including the elements of a personal risk management plan, communication with patients, informed consent, management of adverse outcomes and documentation.

This presentation will discuss obesity prevalence, facility preparedness, and clinical risks for the obese patient. We will demonstrate the importance of health care team education and sensitivity training in caring for and communicating with the obese patient. Unique risks for small and rural organizations including staffing, equipment, and transportation capabilities will be discussed. The clinical risks of an obese obstetrical pateint will be presented.
