In today’s competitive health care market, customer loyalty and patient satisfaction are markers upon which every organization is focused. But with so much attention on ensuring the patient is “satisfied,” providers and organizations can actually make decisions that may lead to patient harm and exposure to unacceptable levels of liability. This presentation will help the participant evaluate organizational vulnerability and provide best practices to deal with unreasonable patient and family demands.
As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to:
-
Discuss the spectrum of patient involvement in care.
-
Define a model for shared decision making.
-
Define policy requirements for unreasonable patient/family demands.
-
Define necessary steps to coordinate provider and staff efforts in responding to unreasonable demands.
What is a Webinar?
Webinars are live, interactive Web-based seminars that allow participants to view materials over the Internet and access the audio by dialing a toll-free number. Participants will have the opportunity to pose questions to the expert faculty. Handout materials will be provided, so participants can also listen via the telephone only.
Webinars are an inexpensive and logistically simple way for health care providers and executives to hear national speakers and content experts address hot topics in patient safety, clinical risk reduction, regulatory and accreditation issues, and general liability trends.
Registrants will receive a confirmation e-mail with connection information and instructions to download the handout materials approximately one week prior to the program.
If you are unable to attend a conference, the audio portion of each webinar is available on a compact disk for you to purchase. CDs come with handout materials. For one flat rate, our CDs can assist in educating an unlimited number of staff to keep your organization running safely and efficiently.
The Risk Management and Patient Safety Institute wishes to take reasonable steps to ensure that no individual who is physically challenged is discriminated against because of the absence of auxiliary aids and services. If special arrangements are needed, please call the number listed on the registration form.
