Program Description
Informed consent remains an important issue in health care today. Viewed as a fundamental right, informed consent must be well understood and respected by those responsible for providing health care services to patients in various settings. This program will focus on the history of informed consent and health care provider responsibilities. The elements of an effective informed consent process will be discussed including decisional capacity, documentation requirements, responsible parties, role of staff and legal background. 

As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the elements of an appropriate informed consent process.
  • Discuss the legal basis of informed consent.
  • Describe the staff roles in the informed consent process.
  • Articulate when informed consent is necessary and the documentation requirements.
What is a Webinar-on-Demand?
