Program Description
Medication safety is an important component of patient safety.  Developing a quality-based strategic medication safety plan can assist an organization prioritize and implement successful performance improvement projects to support safe medication practices.  External benchmarking and internal assessments can help identify the most urgent areas of improvement for medication safety.  There are a number of important steps to developing a medication safety plan and this program will provide you with information about how to develop that plan.
 
As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the steps in developing a strategic medication safety plan.
  • Discuss risk factors in the five phases of the medication process.
  • Review the steps for completing an internal assessment of organizational medication safety processes.
